Industry veterans behind AAA games like Metal Gear Solid, Halo, F.E.A.R., Kinect have started a Kickstarter campaign for an iOS game called République. And they’re asking for a whopping $500,000 to do it, too. Ryan Payton and Alexei Tylevich have created their own teams, Camouflaj and Logan respectively, to create what they call “an epic action game designed specifically for touch-based devices.”

When we first heard of Operation CrossCounter we thought, “Great, a cross-dressing shopping game!” Sadly, you will not be in a roleplaying game where you get to live out your life’s dream of finding a cocktail dress to match your beard. Instead, Sollmo, the South Korean developer of Buddy Rush has created a science-fiction story where the universe has been overrun by the bloodthirsty Guroken robots. At the end of February, Atari announced a contest to re-imagine the classic Pong game in a new light as an iOS game. Today they announced some major updates to the Pong Indie Developer Challenge intended to “offer developers larger incentives for participation and increase their potential revenue as a result of their winning Pong submission.” Those incentives include an extended revenue-sharing agreement, Developer Spotlight, and an addition to the judging panel.

By now, everyone has heard about how Republican presidential candidate Romney adviser Eric Fehrnstrom made a big time oops and compared Romney’s campaign to an Etch A Sketch, where they just had to shake it up to clean the slate, as it were, and start over. As one would expect, all other candidates took up the challenge and Etch A Sketch jokes rose from the dead overnight. But that’s not all, as game developer Freeze Tag discovered with their mobile app Etch A Sketch.

You may well know Mail.ru as the seat of Russian email and networking power. But did you know that they do game development and publishing as well? Their titles include Allods Online, Legend: Legacy of the Dragon, and their action/RPG giant Juggernaut. Up till now they’ve been focusing on browser-based publishing, but their next title will be coming out for the iOS. Juggernaut: Revenge of the Sovering is a new title set in the Juggernaut universe and due out this spring.
