Flight DoodleOn the heels of our review, Eyedip has now added two new mini-games to Flight Doodle HD for iPad. “Battlecraft” and “Survival” are introduced alongside a price drop to $0.99 through this Sunday.

Flight Doodle, a doodle game with hot-air balloons, allows you to activate the two mini-games by rotating the game while viewing the main menu. In Battlecraft, balloons are armed with explosives and players engage in aerial fire-fights with deadly enemy balloons. Survival mode calls on players to collect as many boost power-ups as possible to gain altitude and reach new heights. Customized hot-air balloons are available in all four game modes.

Four game modes? “What’s that, Omaha?” you ask. “You never mentioned extra game modes in your review yesterday!” Yup, you’re right. That’s because Eyedip slipped a new game mode in YESTERDAY, and two more TODAY. So when I updated the game several days ago and was playing it, I never got the new mode (nor info on the new mode yesterday). Looks like I’ll have to do a quick review about all three.

Other features to today’s update include the rainbow hyper-star powerup (for parity with the iPhone version), auto-pausing when notifications pop-up, custom art for achievement alerts, and the ability to listen to your own music in-game (hey, wasn’t that on my list of wants? They listened!).

“We love providing our fans with tons of new content and so far we’ve added an average of one new mini-game per week to Flight Doodle HD” says Steven Fleisher, co-founder of Eyedip. “We’ve also added back-end features that will let us run an awesome balloon art contest, and we’re super excited about a top secret theme we’re unveiling next month!”

Flight Doodle HD (normally $2.99) is available for $0.99 through Sunday on the iTunes App Store. Flight Doodle for iPhone is available for $0.99 on the iTunes App Store. A free version is also available.

Flight DoodleEyedip has released Flight Doodle for iPhone and iPad. This hot air balloon game merges doodle-style gameplay with customizable balloon craft and colorful atmospheric settings.

With an in-game drawing program, players can design their own hot-air balloons, then launch their craft into the game. Gathering powerups as you go will protect from falling objects and enemies, such as pushpins or aircraft. Even changing weather patterns will have an effect. With a tap of the finger, you can shrink or expand your balloon, give it a shield, or arm it with explosive shells for protection and defense.

The developer has integrated the theme of doodling throughout the game, so that you can share your customized balloon with others, and even doodle your own art onto the menu screen. Several mini-games and modes are promised in the first month alone with new features and challenges.

Flight Doodle for the iPhone has launched for $0.99, and Flight Doodle HD for the iPad has launched for $2.99. A lite version for the iPhone is also available.

Top Gun 2Freeverse announced the release of Top Gun 2, the sequel to the popular iPhone game based on the movie. Help contain the threat of encroaching Communists as you aid the USS Enterprise in ridding enemy waters of hostile forces.

Is it wrong of me that I can’t think of this game, or the movie, without thinking of Hot Shots?

The game features more missions, including Search & Rescue, where you rescue a pilot behind enemy lines; Clear the Way, where you destroy an enemy airfield for a recon mission; and Make the Skies Safe Again, where you chase and destroy an enemy ICBM before it reaches the US.

Top Gun 2 also lets you choose from the F-18 Hornet, the F-16 Fighting Falcon, and the F-14 Tomcat, each with upgradeable weapons systems and 2 offensive and defensive capabilities. The arcade action includes dynamically design levels and an enhanced AI that throws multiple attack patterns and evasive maneuvers at you.

There are 7 maps to play in, including air-to-air and air-to-ground combat missions. And Freeverse has pushed the tech boundary by turning this iPhone game into more of a AAA title, with full-screen anti-aliasing, shader effects and enhanced specular and particle effects.

The music comes from Daredevil Squadron, a group known for some interesting sounds that span blues, metal rock, and good ol country. If you are into saga rock, you might know three of their members from Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

You can pick up Top Gun 2 for the iPhone from the App Store for $2.99

“Up, up and away. My beautiful, my beautiful ballooooooon…” As much as that song conjures hated images of “sunshine pop” and easy listening music, hot air ballooning can be an incredible experience…especially when the floor of the basket is glass.

Flight DoodleSo I guess it’s no surprise to find Flight Doodle coming onto the scene. Developed by Eyedip, this hot air balloon game merges doodle-style gameplay with customizable balloon craft and colorful atmospheric settings.

The developer has integrated the theme of doodling throughout the game, promising that you can share your customized balloon with others, and even doodle your own art onto the menu screen. Several mini-games and modes are promised in the first month alone with new features and challenges.

Two versions of the game are planned for release next week…Flight Doodle and Flight Doodle HD. There is no word yet on pricing structure.

…and finds Angry Bird feces in the way. But then, isn’t Angry Birds just a Castle Crushers stylized game?

Cannon CadetsDeveloped by XMG Studios, Cannon Cadets is a physics-based “launching” game for the iPhone, taking it to the next level with chain reaction-style gameplay. Fire charming little cadets out of a cannon at obstacles of increasing size and elaboration. Watch as stuff blows up and your little cadets shoot up into the air. Hear the grunts of the enemy monkeys in space. Yeah, I could do without the last one.

I’ve had a chance to look at the game already, and the levels are pretty interesting. Some have moving objects you have to overcome, others have explosives that you can use to create chain reactions. You can aim your cannon, and view the aim of your previous shot for comparison. There are 80 levels spread over four planet locations which you unlock during gameplay. There are also four playable characters to shoot out of cannons that you get introduced to over time.

Cannon Cadets is available on the App Store today for $1.99. Oh, and I love the trailer:

In time for George A. Romero’s Survival of the Dead, hitting theatres on May 28, comes App of the Dead for the iPhone and iPod Touch. You too can take pictures of your friends, turn them into zombies, then shoot them! What person wouldn’t want to do that?!

Using App of the Dead, you can take photos of your friends with the iPhone camera (or import them from your photo gallery), then add over 20 zombie features, from a gallery of open wounds, weapons, and deformed eyes and mouths. Woot! Once done, you can save or email your zombiefied creation out.

Better, you can enter the “kill mode”. This is where you can wreak awesome vengeance show your friends how much you love them by shooting them over and over in bloody, gory splashes using a custom-built shooting engine. There’s no info on whether you can enter kill mode before you’ve zombiefied your friends, tho.

Seriously, who isn’t going to use this app to take pictures of their hated enemies, turn them into zombies, and shoot at them over and over and over and over and over….

Though I hesitate to call this a game (it’s more like a toy), it will become available soon at an App Store near you.

Supermarket ManagementG5 Entertainment announced last week Supermarket Management, a time management game set in a…wait for it…supermarket. Developed originally for the PC by Playful, G5 has now brought the game to the iPhone.

Kate is fresh out of college, and gets the chance of a lifetime. No, just kidding, she starts her career working in a grocery store. Help her climb her way to the top and become the manager of the supermarket. She has to keep her customers happy while managing the supermarket, hiring coworkers, and selling treats. She can purchase upgrades to help her along the way. Is one of those upgrades the self-service check-out? Yeah, I think that really puts a damper on supermarket time management games. Eventually you can open up new shops and climb to the top of the corporate ladder.

You know, I really tried to be excited by this game. But, seriously, how excited can you get by a game whose very title speaks of mundanity. Supermarket Management? C’mon, Playful, couldn’t you have been more, y’know, creative?
