Duke Nukem ForeverDuke Nukem Forever for the Mac has been released! Hey, so we’re late in announcing it. We were on vacation…sue us.

The alien hordes are invading and only Duke can save the world. Pig cops, alien shrink rays and enormous alien bosses can’t stop this epic hero from accomplishing his goal: to save the world, save the babes and to be a bad-ass while doing it. The game features Duke’s trademark one-liners and a wide amount of genre play. Not just FPS play, but DNF includes driving, puzzle solving, and sports game play. And you’ll get the opportunity to shrink, squash, freeze, shatter, and frag your friends in Duke’s multiplayer.

Duke’s received a lot of criticism in the press so far and we’re eager to find out whether Duke deserves it. We’ll be paying close attention to his moves, his play, and his words during our review. What do you think? Is Duke all washed up, or is Gearbox thinking outside the, er, box?

Duke Nukem Forever for Mac is available for download from the GameAgent site for $39.99.

Duke Nukem ForeverHere’s a game we thought would never make it to the Mac. Aspyr announced today that they are bringing Duke Nukem Forever to the Mac this August.

We’re equally fascinated about whether Duke deserves the criticism that he’s received so far in the media, so we’ll be paying close attention to his moves, his play, and his words.

Duke Nukem Forever for Mac is available right now as a pre-order, and Aspyr is offering a 10% discount on all pre-orders, plus FREE shipping (USPS) for those who want the retail box for posterity (and low download rates). They’ll be posting more about the game in the coming weeks on their GameAgent NonBlog.

Aspry Media, after searching long and hard for the fabled Mac Djinn, finally discovered it late last night. Upon discovering it, Aspyr President Michael Rogers immediately made the wish that Aspyr had kept locked in their safe for more than 10 years.

This secret wish, that Apple purchase the game development and porting company, was completed this morning. Apple CEO Steve Jobs apparently woke up with the sudden desire to purchase a company. After throwing the dart at the Company List dart board, the 1 in a million shot was made and the decision to purchase Aspyr Media completed within hours.

Aspyr Media has released Civilization V to the Mac. The fifth in the long-term Sid Meier’s Civilization strategy sim series, Civ V includes Steam integration and SteamPlay.

Civilization V sports an all new graphics engine, a new combat system, deeper diplomatic interactions and a cavalcade of expanded features. Players build and defend their empire on their quest to become the greatest ruler the world has ever known, from the basest civilization to leaping into the stars.

New features include an hexagonal time layout that provides for deeper, more realistic gameplay and more organic landscapes. Ranged attack has been expanded to include weapons fired from behind the front lines, adding another dimension to strategy. The graphics engine includes fully animated leaders that interact with players during diplomatic scenes speaking in their native language.

The game includes multiplayer modes up to 12 players, with LAN and Steamworks included. Aspyr also made the stunning announcement yesterday that they would be supporting SteamPlay as well, which means that if you had already purchased Civ V for the PC, you automatically now own the Mac version (and vice versa). You can get more information regarding the SteamPlay decision in the third and final Civ V FAQ that Aspyr published yesterday.

Since the announcement of Civilization V for the Mac, there have been a series of FAQs that Aspyr Media has placed on their site answering questions regarding the game. One question, however, that Aspyr has avoided answering completely is the full integration of the game with Steam, specifically SteamPlay.

In an effort to get a better grasp on player expectations, Aspyr has posted a “Call for Comments” on the subject, asking for player feedback. The impression is that they themselves have not yet made any final decisions regarding the issue, and need to get a better understanding of what you feel before they make that decision.

Go. Read. Comment. And since everyone is passionate about this issue, on all sides, please be civil about it. Remember the Wheaton Law: Don’t be a dick.
