Episode 65 has posted

October 2nd, 2008 by omaha

Sorry I’m a little delayed in mentioning this. But Episode 65 has posted. We found that the podcast was so long, though, that we had to carve out the game reviews! I am in the process of finishing up a special Game Review Edition for those…that’ll be posted shortly. When it is, I’ll not just post about it, I’ll also tweet about it! Yup, I’ve got a twitter feed not just for me, Omaha, but also for iGame Radio now. So, go join up to get the latest info on when a podcast posts and when cool Mac game stuff happens. :D

iGame Radio Episode 65 Postponed!

September 26th, 2008 by omaha

I had everything prepared. The lights, the candles, the flowers, the mood music…

Okay, no mood music. But really, I did have everything set up. I’ve finished reviewing all of the games, and almost finished writing the reviews. I’ve got the guest interview at 1 pm…shouldn’t take too long to edit. Then my super secret special guest co-host had to push back our recording from today till Monday.

Wait, you say. Super secret special guest co-host??? WTFBBQ?? Read the rest of this entry »

Hey…Where’s iGame Radio??

July 25th, 2008 by omaha

If you read this blog, you’ve probably been thinking that for a while now. I haven’t posted a new episode now in over two months. Well, the bad news is that the reason for the lack of podcast episodes is because of some unfortunate happenings regarding MacRadio. The good news is…

I’m baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

New Freeverse Games

June 24th, 2008 by omaha

Well, I honestly thought that the next games that Freeverse would announce would be those yummy iPhone games that they are working on. But, they have surprised me with something I didn’t even know they were working on. Today I got a PR from them about Jeopardy Deluxe and Wheel of Fortune Deluxe for the Mac! I used to love watching both shows, though I loved Wheel of Fortune better…I really love word games. Vanna…not so much. Anyway, I’m downloading the demos, and will probably be doing a full review sometime in the future.

In other good news, I really am getting my act together regarding iGame Radio. I’ve finally dug myself out of the hole of work I’ve been in with MacRadio and Sound Podcast Productions (my podcast consulting wing of the business), and am currently tackling the backlog of tasks that I have. I should be able to actually do a podcast for iGame Radio sometime soon. I can’t promise it will be this week. If not, it will be in two weeks, cause next week I will be out of town all week.

Episode 53 Delayed

December 31st, 2007 by omaha

Well, I fully intended to post episode 53 today. I took a break this afternoon, and thought, what the hey, I’d install my new LCD monitor that my husband got me for Christmas. Shouldn’t be too hard, eh? Well, it did involve removing my old CRT monitor (the big, hulking thing) and putting it on the kids’ computer desk where their old monitor used to be (we recycled it a couple of days ago in prep for this very event).

It did involve a *lot* of vacuuming. I didn’t realize just how many dust bunnies were living on my and my kids’ desks. It did involve trying to figure out why I still have Windows 98 on my kids’ PC, and why I haven’t moved them to a Mac yet (well, I know the answer to that…more on that in a future post). I *hate* Windows 98. I mean, what other OS would ask you for a driver when you put in a usb stick?

But the worst was that it involved discovering that the LCD monitor, a V7 R19PS, sucks big time! My G5 comes up, with lousy imaging, and I ask OSX to autodetect the monitor. It attempts to do so. Screen goes black. Screen remains black, but now an ugly green text box shows up with the words “mode not supported”. Nothing I do has fixed this problem. Rebooting doesn’t fix this problem. The text box won’t go away.

After spending almost an hour on this, I wanted to see if this was an LCD to Mac issue, or an LCD to computer problem. So, I attached the monitor to my Windows box. Windows couldn’t detect the new hardware. Sigh.

By this time, we were ready to leave the house and get dinner, and I’m just too tired of dealing with this issue to deal with switching monitors again, then record the remainder of the podcast. Sorry…a quick one hour thing turned into a five hour nightmare. So, I’ll get the monitors switched tomorrow, then post the podcast tomorrow.

If anyone knows anything about V7 LCD monitor compatibility with the Mac, or with ATI cards (I have an ATI 9800 inside my G5), I would be most appreciative of some input. Thanks.

iGame Radio Episode 52 Posted

December 18th, 2007 by omaha

I’ve posted what I realized is the 52nd show of iGame Radio. Great interview with Hal Halpin of the ECA (part 1) and a review of the newly released Avernum 5 by Spiderweb Software. Plus, I rant about the whole Jeff Gerstmann thing (as though you haven’t heard enough about it already).

Today’s Podcast in Jeapordy…and No Points Either :( EDIT: Yes I Will!

March 19th, 2007 by omaha

Over the weekend I received the great news that Freeverse had updated Sound Studio, which I use to both record and edit many of my interviews, to 3.5. Great, I thought. I had chatted with one of the developers of this app at Macworld and he had said that another version would be coming out sometime soon. Now I get to see what they put in (and if one of my suggestions made it in ;).

Unfortunately, I don’t get to find out. Why? SS is now crashing all over the place. Argh! I first realized the problem when I tried to use the 10 Band Equalizer and listen to the preview. Down went SS…continuously. I deleted the .plist for SS, and when I brought SS back up, things seemed to be fine. I was editing for about fifteen or twenty minutes, then suddenly everything starts crashing again.

I’m sending in a crash log to Freeverse to find out what’s going on, but unfortunately I don’t think it’s going to save the podcast for today. I can’t edit my two interviews I was planning on having in today’s podcast…I even tried just making a change, then saving the file. I couldn’t even finish the save before the app crashed.

And, no, I can’t use Audacity. It *always* crashes.

ETA: I was able to locate a previous version of SS so I should be able to post my podcast today. Yeah!

Podcast Posted! Third this month (isn’t that a record?)

January 23rd, 2007 by omaha

Yay! I posted my third podcast already, and on time too. This podcasting only instead of Internet Radio broadcasting thing is doing pretty good. Heh. I’ll update the site tomorrow to reflect the new podcast, but for tonight, everyone who has subscribed to the feed gets their podcast now.

Now, don’t you want to subscribe? ;)

Regular Podcast Posted; Enhanced later today or tomorrow

January 16th, 2007 by omaha

I’m uploading the regular podcast right now…over 1 hour of yummy Mac gaming goodness! Unfortunately, the images that I need to use in the enhanced version need some work, and when I tried to bring up MacGimp, my G5 told me it didn’t have X11 installed. WTF?? It’s supposed to be automatic. Sigh. So now I have a bunch of stuff to do even before I get to change the images so that I can finish the enhanced podcast. So, later today or tomorrow for that.

But I didn’t want to make everyone wait for the podcast, so I made sure to upload the regular one now. Enjoy. :)
