Unboxing the PopCap Cookies
omaha
Lot’s of people have been getting away with turning opening game and hardware boxes into content. And whereas I’m all for being creative and all, opening square pieces of cardboard just doesn’t do it for me. However, to get into the spirit of things, I thought I would drop my own unboxing ritual into the fray…and it all starts with PopCap Games and their soon to be announced new game!
So, a few weeks ago, I received a long tube in the mail. The tube was from PopCap Games and, not quite understanding what the deal was but knowing that they would be announcing their new game soon, I figured there was something special inside.
Indeedy. A nice, pretty, architectural-style poster…only more in the vein of what you would expect from some middle-ages dude searching for the way to turn iron into gold. Yay, pretty poster!
Then, just the other day, I get another box…this one rectangular. Knowing that this coming Monday is the big PopCap media event (which I will be at) to celebrate this new game, I wondered whether the box contained, oh, a game.
Not quite.
I got cookies.
Now, I’m all for sweets to pass the day away…but, you know, with something like this, couldn’t PopCap have, like, included a game too? Or, at the least, timed it so that the sweets came in earlier in the day, when the kids were still at school? There’s nothing worse than getting a box, and doing an unboxing event in the dining room (where the lighting is good), only to see cookies like these, and have your kids not only go, “COOOOOOOOOKIESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!” but also exclaim how wonderful that they look just like the Bejeweled game and oh you forgot to install that game on our new computer….whine, whine, whine!
Sigh. So, now I have yummy, ginger snappy, cookies, only half of which I’m allowed to eat (because the kids get the other half, bribery to get them to stop whining), and I have to wait longer for the game.
