Plants vs Zombies 2 Announced

August 20, 2012 · Posted in Games, News

There’s never been a game that has caused such a frenzy of delight, humor, and delectable brain consumption as Plants vs Zombies. The ultra-popular tower defense-style game for the casual world is still selling like hotcakes, having amassed tens of millions of fans. But three years is a long time to wait for a refresher.

Apparently, PopCap Games thinks so too. The quirky casual game developer has announced Plants vs Zombies 2 and little else, leaving us to salivate in guess-work as to what the new sequel will entail. A release date of late spring, 2013, and a bevy of new features, settings, and situations are all we know at this time.

This is wonderful news, actually, not just because we love Plants vs Zombies. In July of last year PopCap was acquired by EA and since that time only two games have come from the Seattle-based developer…both for Facebook games. While there’s been no system requirements released yet, we assume that the game will be coming to all our favorite platforms, including the Mac. It will be nice to see a game for the Mac coming from such an esteemed developer again.

And where will we download this bevy of brainzzzzzzz from? Since EA has just announced that Origin will be coming to the Mac as well, one presumes that we’ll be getting our PvZ2 love through that platform. But can we also download it direct through the PopCap website as in the past? What about from the Mac App Store? Hopefully we’ll get an update soon that will reveal more information.
