Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks Have One Week Left

August 7, 2012 · Posted in Games, News

Remember those interactive RPG books, the ones first published by Steve Jackson Games? You’d read until you got to a decision-making point, and depending on which decision you made would determine which page you’d be sent to next? Big Blue Bubble has brought those classics back in the form of the Fighting Fantasy series virtual books, five interactive RPGs for the iOS. But you better pick them up quickly if you want them, because the developer’s license for the Fighting Fantasy series expires in only a week!

Part story, part game, in this RPG YOU decide which route to take, which creatures to fight and which dangers to risk. Tap the on screen buttons to flip pages and shake your device to roll the dice using the accelerometer. You can select inventory items for use via the touch-screen too, and the game-save feature allows you to retrace your steps (though we think that would be cheating).

The gamebooks include both original illustrations and digitally re-mastered versions. They’ve also been given universal iPad support, so that the illustrations won’t look blurry on the iPad. And you can listen to your own music library while playing.

Gamebooks go for $2.99 a piece. There are five total right now:

The Warlock of Firetop Mountain
Deathtrap Dungeon
Citadel of Chaos
City of Thieves
Creature of Havoc

After August 14th, the gamebooks will be gone from the iTunes App store. If you’re worried about what happens after August 14th, as long as you don’t delete the gamebooks you’ll be fine. And even if you do accidentally delete them, as long as you have a backup you’ll be able to reinstall them.
