Wasteland 2 WILL be coming to Mac!
A little over a week ago we mentioned that inXile Entertainment had begun a Kickstarter campaign to bring the classic Wasteland back in a sequel. We also revealed that inXile had stated that if their campaign reached $1.5 million pledges, they would bring the game to the Mac and Linux platform. Well folks, WE GOT IT!
The Kickstarter campaign for Wasteland 2 started just ten days ago, seeking for a total goal of $900,000. The fans really kicked in, with over 30,000 backers, and in just ten days inXile has passed the $1.5 million mark. As of right now, they are at $1,537,335…with 24 more days to go. Talk about support! But Brian Fargo of inXile has done more than just outlined a great game with platforms that will be supported (no consoles, but there’s a possibility we might see it, or some version of it, on tablets). He has also created Kicking It Forward.
The goal of Kicking It Forward is to support the Kickstarter community, and specifically to help other projects get a head start. The idea of Kicking It Forward is that participants (starting with inXile) will pledge 5% of their profits from their finished project back to the Kickstarter community to help fund other people’s dreams. And what a great way it is to bring it around full circle. Wasteland inspired Fallout and other games like it, creating their huge fanbases, which have in turn pledged their support to Wasteland 2. And now onto the circle again.
