Company of Heroes Complete launches for March

March 1st is here. That means spring is right around the corner and we’ll soon celebrate Julius Caesar’s assassination once again. And what better way to do it then with a copy of Company of Heroes Complete: Campaign Edition released today! Okay, we struggled to come up with something to say other than “Hey, Company of Heroes Complete: Campaign Edition is released today, go gettem”. We hope you approved of our hard work.

Aspyr Media developed Company of Heroes Complete: Campaign Edition in-house, so the game is native for the Mac. It includes not just the original Company of Heroes, but also the expansions Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts and Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor. This critically acclaimed RTS of 2006 is available right now from the GameAgent Store.

In the single-player game, you take up the role of commander of the Allied forces as you direct your troops on battlefields all across Europe and take part in some of the most important missions and operations of World War II, starting with D-Day. You’ll control three separate armies through six campaigns, facing advanced squad AI that brings Allied and Axis soldiers to life as they interact with changing environments, take cover, and execute advanced squad tactics to eliminate all enemy opposition. The game was built on a custom made engine by developer Relic that provided stunning visuals and graphics quality, and a physics driven world using the Havok Physics Engine that allows you to destroy everything in site!

Unfortunately, the multiplayer portion of the original PC game is not included. From the Company of Heroes FAQ, Aspyr stated that the game “…utilizes a piece of middleware that does not have a viable Mac version available. Because Company of Heroes utilizes dedicated servers and is not simple match-making multiplayer, it requires a full replacement of multiplayer systems in order to enable internet or LAN multiplayer…” Because skirmish mode is tied closely to multiplayer, they also weren’t able to provide that.

Final system requirements include:
10.6.8 (Snow Leopard), 10.7.2 (Lion) or later
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (Dual-Core) or faster
2 GB RAM
13 GB hard drive space
Video Cards: 256MB, ATI Radeon HD 2600, NVidia Geforce 8600, or better (the game will not support Intel integrated chipsets).

Company of Heroes Complete: Campaign Edition is available from the GameAgent store today for $49.99. Note that Aspyr has mentioned that the game will not come to Steam; due to the aforementioned multiplayer issues, the PC version is too different. Shame on you, THQ. Check out the FAQ for more info.
