When a game company really cares about their fans, those fans give back in droves. The WWII sim Battle Academy is a perfect example, with updates, add-on packs, and more mods than you can shake a stick at. And you’ll soon see it on iOS, too!

Battle Academy fans continue to churn out new scenarios for the popular turn based WWII strategy game nearly 2 years after it’s initial release. For those not familiar with the game, Battle Academy is a highly detailed turn-based WW II simulation game by Slitherine and Matrix Games.

The game is completely customizable, from the user interface and combat to the in game graphics. This has allowed war buffs to create a large catalogue of new scenarios, extending the life of the game tremendously.

Some mods recommended by the developers include The World War 1 Cambria Mod: A single and multiplayer mod allowing players to recreate events from World War I, and Pacific Campaign 3: which allows players to re-visit the Pacific Theater, but from the Japanese perspective in an impressive mod featuring user-created units and maps.

Battle Academy has seen quite a bit of activity lately such as the new Operation Sealion add-on pack, and a recent update to version 1.7. An iPad edition of the game has also been announced.

More Battle Academy modding information can be found in Slitherine’s forums and in their recent press release on the subject of their active modding community. By the way, if this story has peaked your interest in the game, a demo is available for download from Slitherine’s web site.
