iOS Game Watch: Breakout Boost+, Super Snake update, Streetquiz

Today, we look at Atari’s new version of Breakout Boost called Breakout Boost+, the update to YoYo Games’ Super Snake HD, and Streetquiz by Nuncha Games.

Atari has announced a new version of Breakout Boost, released last December as a freemium game with in-app purchases for additional levels. Breakout Boost+ is basically the original game, but available for $0.99 with 100 levels all told. Why the decision to release the pay version? Well, Atari didn’t say, but some of the biggest complaints on iTunes regarding the original was about having to purchase additional levels, or problems with doing so. You still get the same features, such as Boost Control to manually adjust the ball’s speed, special ball upgrades and new brick varieties, and the ability to save and restore in-progress games.

Super Snake HD by YoYo Games has received an update. This modern take on an old favorite has you eating your way through 100 levels of puzzles as you consume chicken eggs to grow. There’s even a head-to-head multiplayer to compete with friends. The update includes a new world called Night Life, uses light and dark to add a new twist as players navigate the maze using just a glimmering light and avoiding enemies like Zombie Chickens. The game is available for $0.99.

Lastly, Nuncha Media has released Streetquiz for iPhone. This text-based navigation game has you walking, skating, or biking the streets searching for street signs for clues to the answers to questions. What the questions are, we’re not sure…the only screenshot we have of the questions, below, asks the name of the street. Each game session lasts ten questions. For $0.99 we certainly are hoping for some outstanding questions.
