UPDATE: iOS Game Watch: Say What You See HD, Braveheart, Galactic Alliance
UPDATE: updated Galactic Alliance to reflect that some feedback was received from players via the App Store.
Say What You See: The Collection HD launched last week. This trivia game contains numerous puzzle canvases with different themes. Each puzzle canvas is hand-painted by the renowned artist Amie Bolissian and contains 50 clues in the form of rebus riddles, which are images used to depict words. Players must find & decipher 50 movies hidden in each canvas. For example, a chainsaw with a Texas flag is a reference to the movie Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The game launched with ’80s Movies’, ‘Scary Movies’, and ‘Books 2 Film’ canvases. The game is available for the iPad for $2.99, with an iPhone/iPod Touch version for $0.99.
Gaijin has released Braveheart for both iPhone and iPad. In Braveheart, players assume the role of Richard, a brave knight searching for the Holy Grail. Players progress through a series of touch-controlled missions and side-missions to defeat a dragon, build skills, earn gold, and compete against friends. Braveheart supports the OpenFeint social platform and includes an interesting friending perk system. The more friends you have playing the game, the more a particular feature within the game will work. Braveheart HD is available for $2.99, while the iPhone version can be had for $1.99 (on sale through Friday for $0.99).
Galactic Alliance, Vectorform’s second iPad game, brings multiplayer coop to tower defense. The game brings up to four players in local play, stockpiling and maneuvering weapons to build a strategic defense against the invading creeps. Vectorform seems also to be releasing the game in bits and pieces. The first version released with only 10 waves. The second, released the end of November, featured 60 new waves, but players claimed removed some features. But the developer is incorporating player feedback, so players may see more improvements in future versions. Galactic Alliance is available for $0.99. Galactic Alliance 2 is in development, and will be available in early 2011.
