Braaaaaaaaainzzzzzzz on the iPhone

Plants vs ZombiesHmm…what’s that noise I’m hearing from my pocket? It sounds like…braaaaaaaainzzzzzzzz! Ah, yes, Plants vs Zombies has come out for the iPhone, in time for me to finally have time to play it. The award-winning zombie casual game pitting poor, defenseless zombies against savage, ruthless plants (ain’t historical revisionism grand) is now available for your iPhone or iPod Touch!

Defend your home from 26 different types of zombies using 49 different plant units in this clever and addictive (no, really, it is) tower defense game that translates really well to the iPhone’s small screen. BTW, this is probably the only game that I’ve ever seen on the App Store that does not have one rating below 4 stars…out of 2429 of them!

Available for all iPhone and iPod Touch versions, starting with the OS 2.2.1 and later. The game is only $2.99. Get it now!

Beyond the surface of Two Worlds II

Shots_TW2_Feb10_02TopWare Interactive has released more screens of the anticipated MMOG Two Worlds II. Delving below the surface of the world of Antaloor there lie cavernous mines rich with precious Veritas crystals, the ancient twisting catacombs of long forgotten cultures, and shadowy dungeons adorned with remnants of countless tortured prisoners.

Bleah!

Actually, the screens aren’t nearly as gruesome as the above imagery, which may or may not be good, depending on your tastes. In addition, you can also check out two new Moveshots, which is what TopWare calls brief animations of gameplay. Check it out!

Masquerade Mysteries: The Case of the Copycat Curator announced for Mac

Masquerade MysteriesMerscom announced that Masquerade Mysteries: The Case of the Copycat Curator has been announced for PC and Mac. This casual adventure game pits private investigator Joy Black in her endeavor to bring the deceptive work of art thieves to light. There are the usual mix of riddles and puzzles, but an interesting addition the game will include is while gathering items, she’ll reassemble them into disguises and gadgets that will help her move through the museum and find the answers.

There’s no current info on when the game will be released or system requirements. I’ll update this when I get further information.

What’s inside this episode:

Farm Frenzy 2 launches for iPhone

Farm Frenzy 2While I was away at Macworld 2010, a number of announcements were made that I just wasn’t able to get onto the site (being that I was out partying all night long busily uploading podcasts to the site). So I’m playing catchup now.

One of those announcements is that Farm Frenzy 2 has been released for the iPhone/iPod Touch. I find it ironic that I got the chance to meet with Alawar Entertainment, the publisher of the game, at Macworld, and was able to even play the game for a bit. It is a lot of fun. Farm Frenzy 2 is the sequel to the original grandmammy of the farm building games. Grow grass, feed chickens, collect eggs and take your produce to market, then use the money you earn to build more buildings, pull more water from the well, and dogs to help chase the bears away.

Wait…bears? Yes, you heard right. Bears. For reasons that I never understood, bears wander around your farm at times and kick your chickens out to who knows where. And we’re not talking just brown bears, as I had to encounter a Panda on my farm.

Compatible with all iPhone and iPod Touch models, but requiring OS 3.0 or later, it’s available now for $2.99 at the iTunes store.

[Podcast] Macworld 2010 Day 2: TellTale Games tells all…an exclusive interview

ETA:I kept on getting Mark’s name wrong throughout the entire podcast. For some reason I wanted to call him some variation of Matt and Damon, rather than Mark Darin. So you know that meant I was going to screw up somewhere. Sorry about that Mark! Updated to reflect your *CORRECT* name.

The second day’s interviews from the floor of Macworld 2010 is now available.

What’s inside this episode:

  • An exclusive interview with Mark Darin, Will Armstrong, and Chris Schmidt of TellTale Games about Tales of Monkey Island, how the games are being ported to the Mac, and why the decision was made.
